Russia may turn in PACE after the elections to the state Duma, but the possibility is low because early in the session the new composition of the lower house of the Parliament may not be able to gather even on the first meeting, said Alexei Pushkov.
MOSCOW, 29 Jan. There is a small theoretical possibility of Russia’s return to PACE in October this year, said at a press conference the Chairman of state Duma Committee on international Affairs Alexei Pushkov.
On the eve of the winter session of Moscow did not send required to confirm the credentials of the delegation documents and stated that this session of the miss. Return to Assembly of the Russian Federation intends to restore the case taken from the position of the Crimea in 2014 and 2015, authority, and capacity to dialogue conditions. At the same time Moscow stressed that relations with the Council of Europe as a whole is not going to break.
“There is a theoretical probability of our return to PACE in October 2016. After his re-election to the state Duma we can in October to apply to PACE our powers,” Pushkov said.
He noted that the possibility is low, because the PACE session starts in early October, by which time the state Duma of new structure may not be able to gather even on the first meeting.
As Pushkov noted that Russia may return to the Assembly in January 2017, but there are a number of conditions. “To come back on any terms, we will not: sanctions against Russia make it impossible for our participation”, — said the Deputy.
