“I have the impression that we are entering a new phase of relations with Iran from the point of view that good political relations will now be added and opportunities to develop trade and economic relations, since Iran no longer bound by the sanctions, has access to frozen Iranian assets in Western banks, that is, he acquires the funds,” said Pushkov journalists after the meeting with the international Advisor of Iran’s spiritual leader Ali Akbar Velayati.
“In conditions when the EU sanctions against Russia continue, when we look for new partners in trade and economic sphere, we expand the view of the map of world trade, we believe that Iran could occupy a more prominent place in the system of our trade relations”, – said the Deputy.
“There is a niche for this, especially when decreased sharply our relations with Turkey and not yet restored relations with the EU in the area of food supply, food industry products, I think Iran could become one of the new States, which are actively present on the Russian market”, – said Pushkov.
The head of Committee of the state Duma reminded that in a number of areas (bilateral) trade, “because of (international) sanctions (against Iran) there was a block on one side because of the sanctions, on the other hand due to the fact that in Russia there was a certain structure of foreign trade, which now undergoes serious changes due to EU sanctions and a sharp narrowing of our relations with Turkey”. “We talked about that, of course, a 3 billion trade turnover between Russia and Iran is completely insufficient, given the fact that the Russian economy could provide the Iranian and Iranian – Russian”, – said the MP.
