In an interview to RT, the Chairman of the lower house of the Russian Parliament said that “Western partners are attempting to more closely coordinate (the Russian Federation) in joint action in Syria”.
“Although, in my opinion, such coordination and effectiveness of joint action could be higher if the West was really sincere and truly aimed at joint efforts to defeat international terrorism,” – says Naryshkin.
To negotiations without preconditions
Also Sergei Naryshkin called for talks between the opposition and Damascus without preconditions.
“From the outset, Russia has claimed and now claims that allow acute the Syrian problem can only be moving in two directions”, – said the speaker. The first is the military component, in particular, “the elimination of terrorism”, he stressed. “The terrorists could be discussed, they should be destroyed. And the whole history of the struggle of the civilized world with terrorism confirms this is the position in relation to this evil,” said Naryshkin.

The second area is the political process, and that is why Russia stands for the format of the Geneva talks, the Chairman of the state Duma. “We are very sorry that the start was marred, in our opinion, the non-constructive position of those whom we call the Syrian opposition,” he said.
Naryshkin is confident that “the talks between the opposition and the Syrian government must start without any preconditions.” “If a spiral of conditions and with one, and on the other side, negotiations may just come to a standstill. You need to sit down at the negotiating table with open eyes and start to talk – the only way to solve the most complicated political part of the Syrian problem,” he concluded.
