“This comprehensive dialogue, which was, just no more, – Medvedev said. – So conclusion: the world we did not become better, the number of problems increased, and even States, whole countries not talking to each other”.

According to him, the European Union and the Russian Federation or almost turned contacts, or significantly weakened, despite the common economic problems in the region and the world. “We are now almost do not communicate, – he admitted. – Yes, on the “twenty” meeting, but they are largely ritual in nature, rather there are accepted recommendations, which are not always fulfilled, but in tight contact, once we had – we discussed all the economic problems each month with the leadership of Germany, France, Britain, nothing, everything is destroyed”. “Is this good? I think that’s bad for our countries, our peoples and the economy”, – said the Prime Minister.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation stressed that in the current situation is “our fault”. “From contacts we never gave up, were ready to speak in a variety of formats, but we deliberately turned contacts both in the EU, at some point, and cooperation between Russia and NATO,” he said, noting that “our world has become more dangerous and worse”.

The Prime Minister believes that the resulting mistrust can be overcome only by long contact. “In fact, we have spent 25 years, since the establishment of the new Russia on a new basis, since 1991, the building of relationships with our European partners. At some point, I, frankly, thought we were already friends, that we speak in the literal and figurative meanings in one language, be it Russian, German, English, that we well understand each other. Nothing is left of that”, – said Medvedev.

The Prime Minister expressed bewilderment, why was the “derail” all political and economic ties. “Never happened, even during the toughest picks, be it the Cuban missile crisis or the Afghan, to the leaders of the Parliament were declared persona non grata,” he said, Recalling that difficult times were in Soviet times. “We can do the curtain lowered, to say that we did not communicate, he concluded. – This, I believe, a grave political mistake. Did nothing, didn’t anyone better”.
