MUNICH, February 13. In some areas the amount of interaction with Euro-Atlantic structures, Russia loses in comparison with the period of the cold war. This was stated by Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking at the Munich security conference.
“I think it is clear that the extraordinary complexity of intertwined crises, the expansion of the conflict space requires coordinated cooperation, – said the Minister. – However, collective efforts are being erected artificial constraints – such as the refusal of NATO and the EU on full-fledged cooperation with Russia, forming the image of the enemy, the deployment of weapons in order to perpetuate those dividing lines in Europe, which the West solemnly promised to dismantle. Apparently, the old instincts still very, very tenacious”..

“A required team approach”
In solving large and complex problems of international policy need to practice a team approach, Lavrov said. “The events of last year proved that, when the thesis of someone’s exceptionalism is put aside and when there is pooling of capacities in Russia, USA, European Union, China and other leading centers of power of the modern world, can achieve breakthrough results”, – said the head of the Russian foreign Ministry.

On the joint fight against terrorism

“ISLAMIC STATE”

The tasks of the Munich conference
“The platform of the Munich security conference is well suited for a serious conversation about ways to restore the culture of dialogue and the art of compromise, of the withdrawal of diplomacy in a priority position that should rightfully belong to her at the stage of development of a reliable, sustainable system of global governance,” the Minister added. He explained that “all this is true, if we don’t want to drift to the waterfall, and interest in, to reverse the negative trend in international Affairs and to justify, finally, the expectations that are associated with our joint work.”
