MOSCOW. On 29 February. The share of counterfeit dairy products (with vegetable fat) in Russia in 2015 was 11%, in some cases, the percentage of adulteration in dairy products reached 50%. About this at the International forum-exhibition “Dairy and meat industry” in Moscow, said the head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert.
“If you take a basic sample of counterfeit products, on this background, last year 11% of violations. And if you take on the more serious category – that comes to 50% (the number of violations – approx. ed.). Where more fat, there’s more fraud,” said Dankvert. He noted that fake low-fat products (2-3,5% fat) “makes no sense”.
As explained in the press service of the Rosselkhoznadzor, these results were obtained during random checks. The greatest number of violations identified in products with high content of fat – the cheese and sour cream.
As stressed Dankvert, to rectify the situation would help the transfer of control over quality of production on the dairy products market veterinary services in the region. “While the veterinary services of the subjects will not be disposed to find the adulteration, results will not be”, – said the head of Department. “We need to cede control to the regions, then each Governor will be interested (within the control of the production – approx. ed.),” he said.
Dankvert noted that currently the function of control vested in the Federal service. However, in the case of use of raw materials of unknown origin it becomes a matter of the Rosselkhoznadzor, he said. “When the production is made of raw materials of unknown origin is authorised veterinarians”, – said the head of Rosselkhoznadzor.
The same applies to meat products, he added, citing as an example the situation where the product label specified beef, and the study revealed that pork had been used.
