“Gas package”, under which Kiev can buy gas in Russia, expires at the end of March. At the same time Ukraine continues to buy gas transit in the European Union, saying that its price is lower than in the Russian Federation.
KYIV, 1 Mar. The NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” has no plans to buy gas in Russia, told journalists the head of the Ukrainian company Andrey Kobelev.
“Not planned yet (the purchase of gas in Russia — ed.)”, — he told, answering an appropriate question.
At the end of March expires the action of the so-called winter “gas package”, in which Kiev has the right to buy gas from Russia. The existing agreements were initialled Russia and Ukraine brokered by the European Commission on 25 September 2015. Bought under agreements binding the volume of gas by 540 million dollars, Kiev November 25, stopped buying gas from Russia.
At the same time Ukraine continues to buy gas transit in the European Union, saying that its price is lower than in the Russian Federation.
Previously, the operator of the gas transportation system of Ukraine “Ukrtransgaz” reported that in January of 2016, the country imported European route 0,915 billion cubic meters of gas.
