DONETSK (Rostov region), on 2 March. Former Ukrainian army Hope Savchenko considers himself innocent in the murder of Russian journalists. She stated this during the debate of the parties in the Donetsk city court (Rostov region).
Savchenko has threatened to declare a hunger strike if the judge will write the sentence for more than two weeks.
“If the court will assign a sentence more than two weeks, I declare a hunger strike from tomorrow. I’m an innocent man, my guilt is not proven. No exchanges, delaying trades and I not going to wait,” announced she. “If the sentence is more than two weeks, you will make it to me posthumously,” added Savchenko.
23 years of a colony
Earlier it was reported that the public prosecution is asking for Savchenko 23 years in a General regime colony and a fine of 100 thousand rubles.

“On set of crimes by partial addition of punishments, the prosecution considers it possible to assign Savchenko final punishment for a period of 23 years of imprisonment”, – said the Prosecutor in the deliberations of the Donetsk city court.
He asked to exclude the charges of the attempted murder of the six citizens of Ukraine. “The prosecution believes a complete proof of guilt Savchenko to the murder of Kornelyuk and Voloshin, as well as the assassination of their colleague Denisov and sestili. Unfortunately, Russian law does not allow to involve the defendant in the territory of the Russian Federation for this crime (attempted murder – ed.)”, – said the Prosecutor.
He noted that Savchenko has immunity because the alleged crimes were committed before assigning her the title of member of the Assembly.
Protection of Savchenko, in turn, said that she doesn’t care what period the request of the Prosecutor and what the verdict will be reached by the court, as it believes that the defendant through political negotiations will return to Ukraine within a month after sentencing.
The Case Of Hope Savchenko
Nadezhda Savchenko is accused of involvement in the murder of two employees VGTRK under Lugansk and illegal crossing of the border. Article Savchenko: part 2 of article 105 of the criminal code (“Murder”), part 3 of article 30, 2 of article 105 of the criminal code (“Attempt at murder”) and part 1 of article 322 of the criminal code (“Illegal border crossing”).
According to the investigation, as an officer of the armed forces of Ukraine, while the location of a paramilitary battalion “Aydar” on June 17, 2014 near the village of Metallist, Slavyanoserbsk district, Luhansk region Savchenko was conducting secret surveillance and correction of artillery fire on the area of the checkpoint of the militia LNR with him were civilians, including three citizens of the Russian Federation – correspondents VGTRK. The shelling of the VGTRK employees Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin were killed.
