GENEVA, 13 March. The cessation of hostilities in Syria should be valid indefinitely. This was stated by Russia’s permanent representative to the UN office and other international organizations in Geneva Alexei Borodavkin.

According to him, all the statements of the opposition of the Higher Committee on negotiations (WCP) on the truce in two weeks is unacceptable. “The cessation of hostilities should act as long as long as a durable peace,” the diplomat said.
He noted that Russia urges Syrian parties to demonstrate a balanced approach in the negotiations.
“We hope that this time will prevail a balanced and realistic approach to negotiations, and will begin the gradual process of implementing the provisions of UN security Council resolution on Syria, which spelled out a “road map” of gradual settlement of the Syrian crisis”, – said the diplomat.

“We hope, first of all, on Syria, on a truly moderate opposition, which has its political developments on how to move forward on the negotiations with the delegation of the government”, – noted the Borodavkin.
According to the diplomat, Russia will help the Syrian moderate opposition to unite.
“Trying to help the moderate Syrian opposition to unite and agree on the bases of its overall political programme, the diplomat said. Is, ultimately, their responsibility to the Syrian people to speak with strong and United positions.”
