SINGAPORE, March 16. /Spec. interviewer Sergey Izotov/. The Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko said that the question of changing the Russian position on Crimea.

“There is no question about the change in Russia’s position or the return of the Crimea to go anywhere. For us the will of the people (of Crimea) – this is important and it is irreversible. Crimea and Sevastopol became full-fledged subjects of the Russian Federation”, – said today the Senator, responding to a request of journalists to comment on the statement by the U.S. state Department about the lifting of sanctions against Russia in case of return of the Crimea to Ukraine.

She called such statements are short-sighted and politically flawed.

“The results of the referendum are irreversible, and who would like them or commented on”, – said the speaker of the Federation Council. She recalled that the referendum was conducted “strictly in accordance with international law”. “And there is nothing higher than the will of the people”, she concluded.

Matviyenko said that, in spite of all the obstacles that repairing the authorities of Ukraine the process of integration of the Crimea with Russia, Crimeans “stoically endure all the difficulties.” “Residents of Crimea and Sevastopol not to break such limitations, they are sensitive to the time constraints that are there, and Russia is doing everything to mitigate the consequences of such actions of the Kiev authorities (food, energy blockade),” said Matvienko.

She also noted that the Crimea is political pressure. “We see what was the gossip, political speculation spread, trying to use the factor of national minorities of Crimea cast a card of the Crimean Tatars”, – said Matvienko.
