Russia is going to provide Iran with a loan of $2.5 billion


Moscow. March 14. Russia may provide Iran with credit for infrastructure projects for $2.5 billion, but the final decision about loan amount and the terms are agreed, told reporters by energy Minister Alexander Novak after meeting with Chairman of the Russian-Iranian intergovernmental Commission Mahmoud Vaezi.

Last autumn Russia discussed the possibility of providing Iran with two loans for $5 billion and $2.2 billion

“The profile of the company confirmed that in the coming days to sign the contracts for the construction of thermal power plants and electrification of Railways. Waiting for the final conditions and cost. Now it comes to loans totaling up to $2.5 billion for these two projects,” the Minister said.

Earlier, Russia and Iran reached a preliminary agreement on the allocation side of the Russian interstate loan of $5 billion and a loan of $2.2 billion from VEB. The loans are granted for the construction of Railways and reconstruction of TPP.
