Estonia again accuses Russia of violating airspace


The Russian plane An-26 violated the airspace of Estonia, Delfi reports. It happened near the island of Vaindloo.

According to the newspaper, the plane is held in Estonian airspace for less than a minute. Transponder (transmitter-receiver that sends a signal in response to the received signal) of the aircraft was included, and was given the flight plan, according to which the plane was flying in international airspace. At the time of violation of the border, the plane had no radio contact with the Estonian air navigation service.

This information is confirmed by “Interfax” with reference to the press service of General staff of the Estonian defence Forces.

Estonian foreign Ministry summoned the representative of the Russian Embassy in Estonia and handed him a protest note. The foreign Ministry reported that this is the second violation of airspace by Russian aircraft this year.

The last time the space violation was recorded on 18 February. Delfi with reference to the defence Forces of Estonia then reported that the Russian Mi-8 helicopter without the permission of walked into the country’s airspace in the area of the Outpost Vasknarva and was there less than a minute. The transponder was turned off, and a flight plan was not provided. Then the Estonian foreign Ministry also reported that the representative of the Russian Embassy handed a note of protest.

The Ministry of defense of Russia, the violation of space was denied. “On 18 February, the army aviation helicopters in the area of flights did not commit”, — said the press service and information of the defense Ministry.
