Document banning flags of DNR and Crimea at Eurovision called a draft

The European broadcasting Union has ordered to remove information about banning flags at Eurovision. According to the report published in community organizations in Facebook, on the websites of the concert hall Globe Arena and the Agency for the sale of tickets AXS was published a preliminary version of the regulations on the carrying of flags, which were not intended for publication.

The document was published on 29 April. It was noted that the competition are not permitted to bring several flags of unrecognized and partially recognized States, including the self-proclaimed Donetsk people’s Republic, the Republic of Crimea, Palestine, Nagorno-Karabakh, Kosovo, Transnistria, Basque, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and banned in Russia organization “Islamic state”, and the flag of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatars, is also banned in Russia.

The European broadcasting Union stressed that the document has not been approved. “The organizers understand and recognize the features associated with the question [of approval or prohibition] flags of organizations and territories. The organizers apologize to all whose feelings were hurt because of this list,” explains Union.

The Union asked the Globe Arena and AXS immediately delete the draft provisions on the forbidden symbols and publish the correct version, which will appear on the site in the course of the day.

The document has been criticized, in particular, the MEP from the Basque nationalist party, Bilbao Izaskun of Barandica. She expressed resentment about the fact that the flag of the Basque Country, which is constitutional, along with flags of other Spanish Autonomous communities, placed in one row with the flag of ISIS”, and demanded to exclude it from the list.

The contest “Eurovision” will be held from 10 to 14 may in Stockholm.
