Russia allowed the expansion of the permanent members of the UN security Council

Moscow does not exclude such variant of the reform of the UN security Council, in which would be the number of its permanent member States increased. This was at the informal plenary of the UN General Assembly on the question of equitable representation in the UN security Council, expanding its membership and related matters, said Deputy Permanent representative to the UN Vladimir Safronkov.

“As for Russia’s position, we do not rule out options for reform, which SAT there would be new permanent members”, — said Safronov.

The diplomat noted that “for a decision in favor of this option, one should clearly visualize the entire diagram, including what specific countries will take place in the Council on a permanent basis”.
