The lawyer said declaring victory in an action for construction of the center in Paris

The construction of the Russian spiritual cultural center in Paris is continuing on schedule, after the former shareholders of YUKOS, which had sought in the French court of cessation of work, in late April, lost a lawsuit, said TASS, the lawyer Andrea Pinna, representing in the French court the interests of Russia.

The “sued party sought to stop work on the construction of spiritual-cultural center. However, the French court deemed this requirement illegal. The appropriate verdict was handed down on April 28. Accordingly, work continues according to schedule,” he said. The lawyer noted that “the court endorsed all of the arguments of the Russian side”. “Was taken into account the fact that the center on the Quai Branly extends diplomatic immunity”, — he stressed.

According to Pina, representing the interests of former Yukos shareholders Hulley Entreprises company Limited was sentenced to pay €20 thousand in favor of the Russian Federation and €10 thousand — the French company Bouygues, which is responsible for the construction of the center in Paris. “Formally, this decision can be appealed. However, from a practical point of view, meaning she will not have, as at the time of its consideration of the construction work will have been completed”, — concluded the lawyer.

Commenting on another hearing, scheduled for September 29, the plaintiffs demanded the seizure of the land on which the centre, and to withdraw him in favour of former Yukos shareholders. Pina said: “Our position remains the same: to land, as well as on the center itself, extends diplomatic immunity. In this regard, we believe that the verdict will also be made in favor of Russia”.

The lawyer expressed confidence that the lawsuit will not affect the forthcoming in October, the inauguration of the centre.

In February this year reported that former Yukos shareholders have made seizure of the land plot on which to build a spiritual and cultural center, which meant a ban on the disposal site. At the same time, the court did not block the construction at the site, recognizing the object of diplomatic immunity.

ROC called the message about the arrest of the earth “duck”. At the Russian Embassy in France said that Russia has challenged the actions of the former shareholders of Yukos. “The question will be considered in court not earlier than autumn 2016,” — said the “Interfax” in the Russian diplomatic mission.

Russian spiritual and cultural center is being established in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. Land for building was purchased in 2010. The amount of the transaction were not officially announced. The amount of the contract with the construction contractor, the French company Bouygues Batiment, amounts to €90.7 million.

In March, the newspaper La Croix wrote that the cost of establishing a center in Paris will be €170 million. however, in mid-March, Deputy Prime Minister, head of government staff Sergei Prikhodko said that the budget for the project allocated about €90 million.
