All-Russia centre of studying of public opinion on Thursday will present the results of a survey about the intention of the Russians to participate in the primaries of “United Russia”, told General Director VTSIOM Valery Fedorov. The survey was conducted on may 14-15, is the latest social research before the preliminary vote. It is scheduled for may 22, according to its results, the party members will form the election list, which will go to the Duma elections on 18 September.
According to Fyodorov, 47% of Russians already know about the primaries of the party in power. He notes that the awareness of the population of Russia about the event, United Russia is growing rapidly (a week before this survey about primaries were informed 40%). This suggests that the information campaign “United Russia” took place widely, says a sociologist. “Now you need to this awareness was transformed into something that people actually came to the polling stations”, — said Fedorov.
32% of respondents say that they either definitely or “probably” will come in the primaries, it follows from the survey. But this does not mean that the turnout will actually be so high, says Fedorov. “Going to elections — it is a social norm. So always more people talking about plans to come to the polls than come actually,” he says. As a result people will come in the primaries — is unknown, because until now such events in Russia did not pass, says Fedorov. According to him, the stations will come at least three times less people than expected.
Most likely, in most districts the turnout will be in the range from 5% to 10%, predicts the head close to the Kremlin Fund ISAPI Dmitry Badovsky. He notes that in those regions where it will be competitive and high-profile campaign, the turnout could be higher because there interest in the primaries above.
A source close to the leadership of “United Russia” familiar with the data of poll VTSIOM, predicts that turnout will be 10% -12%. He recalled that the party, in preparation for early voting, focused on the fact that the maximum of the polling stations on may 22, come 20% of Russians. This is the quantity that the United Russia party has prepared the ballots, and also opened 20% of the polling stations.
After the primaries of the United Russia promised not just to take stock, and consider all complaints of candidates. Including for this a few weeks after the primaries (preliminary date — 4-5 June) will bring together all the candidates at one event, to summarize and to give an opportunity for all participants to transmit their claims.
