Poroshenko filed a petition for clemency “the GRU soldiers”

“Pardon Evgeny Erofeev and Alexander Alexandrov have already been submitted to the President of Ukraine”, — said the lawyer, without specifying who it was from. He also stated that convicted prisoners do not have to plead guilty to filing the petition, “for the filing of the petition is sufficient sentence, which entered into force”, said Rybin.

The lawyer reminded that the same procedure is now in Russia against Hope Savchenko. “It mirrored the procedure. The evening will be a clear outcome of the exchange [Yerofeyev and Alexander Savchenko],” said the lawyer.

Yesterday the lawyer Erofeev Oksana Sokolovsky said that the convicts and their lawyers will not ask Ukrainian President to pardon because they consider the sentence illegal. However, the lawyer clarified that the appeal can and other persons – relatives, as well as Parliament Commissioner for human rights.

Earlier, Poroshenko said about the readiness to sign the petition for clemency and Erofeeva Alexandrov. He also noted that he was ready to use any constitutional authority to repatriate Hope Savchenko.

Erofeeva and Aleksandrov was detained in may 2015 in Luhansk oblasti. The next day, the Russian defense Ministry explained that they are former voennkomat, and on the territory of Ukraine they went, already retired from the armed forces.

Earlier, her lawyer Ilya Novikov said that the condemned takes a principled stand and the application for pardon would not write. However, according to the Russian legislation, this may be done by other persons, including relatives.

None the less, Russia has already launched the procedure for the return of Savchenko on the basis of the Convention on the transfer of sentenced persons of 1983. As said another lawyer Savchenko, this process has stalled, and all depends on the inertia of the Russian Ministry of justice.

Prior to this, on 18 may, the head of Department Alexander Konovalov has told about reception of documents for the extradition of Savchenko. He noted that the procedure “takes its course”.
