Kiev said about the failure of Russia to help in the supply of electricity

Ukraine during the summer heat turned to Russia with a request for assistance in the supply of electricity under emergency technical assistance, but was refused. The Ukrainian energy system managed to pass the peak load without energy imports. This was stated at a press conference the head of the Ukrainian energy Ministry Igor Nasalik, transfers “112 Ukraine”.

“We have passed this period without importing a single kilowatt of electricity from abroad, although we have appealed to Russia for technical assistance, which we refused, we did not run-gas units, and today there are no rolling blackouts,” said Nasalik.

According to him, due to the heat wave in Ukraine, the lack of capacity in the power system in the beginning of summer was more than 3.5 thousand MW , and in most areas of the country, agreements were signed on rolling blackouts.

The contract for the supply of electricity from Russia to Ukraine was not renewed and terminated on 1 January 2016, it now comes exclusively under the technical assistance only upon request.

According to “RIA Novosti” in the energy sector, such delivery occurred on 23 and 24 June, but from June 25 to supply electricity to Ukraine from Russia.

The head of the energy Ministry of Russia Alexander Novak confirmed that the proposal from the Ukraine was received, clarifying that the cost of such supplies in the framework of technical assistance “higher than normal supply of electricity.” At the same time Nasalik in late June said that the power system of Ukraine does not lack capacity and does not require the supply of electricity from Russia.
