Negotiations of presidents of Russia and Turkey Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan does not represent a problem for Washington, said at a briefing the representative of US state Department Elizabeth Trudeau, answering the question of whether US relations with Turkey to deteriorate after a meeting between the two leaders earlier on Tuesday. “I don’t think question about it at all,” she said.
Trudeau noted that Russia and Turkey are “sovereign States”, which have their own international relations: these countries have “common goals”, including the fight against “Islamic state” (organization banned in Russia) and the International Syria support group.
“As for the content of their talks — it is better to ask them [the Russian and Turkish] government,” — said the representative of the state Department.
Meeting of the presidents of Turkey and Russia was held yesterday and lasted two hours from 14:00 to 16:00 GMT.
Following the talks, Putin said, in particular, on the gradual removal of measures against Turkey, which were introduced after the Turkish fighter jet shot down a Russian su-24 in the skies over Turkey. Mainly, the heads of state paid attention to two projects — pipeline “Turkish stream” and NPP “Akkuyu”.
