The Governor of the Pskov region Andrey Turchak invited Vladimir Putin to increase more than four times the import duties on electronics in Russia, writes “Kommersant” with reference to the letter of the Governor to the President, a copy of which was at the disposal of edition.
According to Turchak, the increase in duties on electronics up to 60% when the maximum value is now 14% — will create a domestic market and increase investment attractiveness of the industry. “It will be possible to implement a number of projects on the territory of the special economic zone of industrial type’ Procedure, including the construction of a plant for contract manufacturing of electronics for civil industry with a total investment of about 2.5 billion rubles and create about 1 thousand jobs by the GS Group holding company, specializing in the production of TV set-top boxes and other consumer electronics”, — quotes the edition the address of the Governor.
According to his calculations, the tariff increase will allow to eventually increase the share of domestic products on the market, from the current 14% to 50% in the next few years will bring the budget more than 600 billion rubles, and will create more than 20 thousand high-tech jobs. In the letter Turchak argued that the annual volume of the market of electronic equipment in Russia is about 3.5 trillion rubles, while the share of imports of final goods for civilian use is 90 per cent, said the newspaper.
A source in the Ministry said that the meeting in the Ministry of the GS Group holding company also proposed to increase import duties “about 600 different types of equipment, from mobile electronics to vending equipment and air conditioners”. In a letter to the President of the GS Group to the Deputy Minister of industry and trade Andrey Boginskoe said that the company intends to create a “contract manufacturing of industrial, automotive, household and consumer electronics, electronics, utility services, network equipment, systems security,” the newspaper said. It was claimed that capacities of the enterprise allow to produce up to 300 thousand units of finished products per month.
