The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine called conditions, which are ready to organize elections to the state Duma in the premises of the Russian diplomatic missions in the country.
Among these conditions is the refusal of the electoral Crimea, which Kyiv considers to be occupied territory, as well as “exclusion from the Federal lists of candidates nominated by the Russian political parties included in the regional groups that cover the temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation the territory of Ukraine”.
The Ukrainian foreign Ministry also said that the Ukrainian foreign Ministry has expressed to the Russian side a strong protest about Moscow’s intentions to hold elections in Crimea. “In the same context we noted that the holding of such elections in the premises of diplomatic and consular missions of Russia is impossible”, – stated in the message.
Earlier the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko instructed the head of the Ukrainian foreign Ministry to inform Moscow about the impossibility of holding the elections on the territory of Ukraine. Prior to this, September 8, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decided to appeal to the parliaments of the various States, urging them to refrain from participating in election observation in the Crimea.
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, in turn, said that the decision of the Parliament regarding the elections to the state Duma on the territory of Crimea will not be taken into account in Russia. He noted that “this decision will not play any role and not be perceived by Moscow.” “Crimea is the territory of Russia, and in this case it is the decision we will not be able to recognize or take into account”, — said Peskov.
CEC member Vasily Likhachev Saturday explained TASS that in the event of a ban from Kiev to vote in the elections to the State Duma about 80 thousand of Russian citizens living on the territory of Ukraine.
