Russia has threatened to veto in the UN security Council resolution on Aleppo

The draft resolution on the introduction of ceasefire in Aleppo, Syria submitted by France, does not have opportunities for making in the UN security Council. This was stated to journalists by the permanent representative of Russia to the UN Vitaly Churkin.

“I have a suspicion that the real motive is to provoke a veto from Russia”, — quoted Churkin Reuters. “I see no possibility how this resolution can pass,” he added.

The vote in the UN Security Council on a draft resolution calling on Russia and the United States to ensure an immediate ceasefire in Aleppo, will be held this Saturday, the Agency said.

Earlier, permanent representative of France Francois Delattre said Friday that he had asked the UN security Council to take a vote on the draft resolution on Saturday. “We have no time, in Aleppo, we have an emergency situation”, – quotes its words Reuters.

In the text of the French draft resolution, seen by Reuters, it is proposed, in particular, to create the possibility of control over the truce with the UN. Also, the text calls for “the adoption of further measures” in case of non-observance of the truce “of any of the parties involved in the internal Syrian conflict.”

The draft resolution also calls on Russia and the United States “to ensure the immediate establishment of a cessation of hostilities, starting from Aleppo, and this put an end to all military flights over the city.”
