Germany announced the first in a year meeting, “Norman Quartet”

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President of France, Ukraine and Russia Francois Hollande, Petro Poroshenko and Vladimir Putin agreed to meet in Berlin in “channel format” on 19 October, writes Reuters with reference to the official representative of the government of Germany Steffen Seibert.

According to him, Merkel has invited other members of the “Norman Quartet” in Berlin for talks. Discussed will be the implementation of the Minsk agreements, as well as “further steps” to resolve the situation in Ukraine, said Seibert.

Bild, citing the press Secretary of the government of the Steffen Seibert said that Putin will take part in the meeting in “Norman format”.

The press service of the Ukrainian President reported that he had a telephone conversation with Hollande and Merkel. “The two sides agreed to hold the 19th of October in Berlin the meeting of heads of state in the Normandy format in order to force Russia to fulfill the Minsk agreements, in terms of security policy”, — underlined in the message.
