Deck-based fighters su-33 and MiG-29 aircraft-carrying cruiser “Admiral Kuznetsov” have landed at the Russian air base “Hamim” in Syria, reports “Interfax” with reference to an informed source.
“The pilots got experience of taking off from the deck, landing on “Hamimi” and return to the cruiser “Admiral Kuznetsov”. Especially actively such flights are carried out at the beginning, during the study of the theater of military operations”, — said the Agency interlocutor.
Previously, on the website of IHS Jane’s published an article which, citing satellite imagery, dated November 20, stated that on the basis of “Hamim” there were eight deck-based fighters su-33 and a MiG-29КР together with the aircraft of the Russian air group videoconferencing in Syria, the su — 24M, su-34 and su-35.
On 11 November, the “Interfax” with reference to sources reported that the aircraft cruiser “Admiral Kuznetsov” in a few days flies over Syria to study the theater of operations. On 14 November it became known that the fighter MiG-29 crashed off the coast of Syria due to the sudden failure of both engines. The pilot managed to eject before the crash into the water.
That aircraft cruiser “Admiral Kuznetsov” was involved in the fighting, first became known on November 15. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu also said that the main purposes for which deposited that day beats become ammunition depots and clusters in the main training center for terrorists.
