Heavy aircraft-carrier cruiser “Admiral Kuznetsov”, which returned from a trip to the shores of Syria, will be upgraded and its life extended for another 20 years, according to “Izvestia”, citing sources in the naval fleet and shipbuilding industry.
According to the publication, the amount, which will cost the modernization of “Admiral Kuznetsov”, can be as high as 65 billion rubles. in the preliminary calculations there will be approximately 30 billion rubles for various development work, but that the total may exceed 65 billion, the newspaper said.
That aircraft-carrying cruiser “Admiral Kuznetsov” will go for the repair after the completion of defects, said on Thursday Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin. Rogozin said that there will be a “medium repair and modernization”, and its timing will determine the Ministry of defence, based on the funding plans, and depending on the complexity of the work.
According to him, before March “Admiral Kuznetsov” in the Mediterranean sea to the shores of Syria, we solved the problem of its repair for the “ready campaign”, in particular, was repaired compartment for storage of ammunition. Earlier, in November 2016 Vice-President of the United shipbuilding Corporation (USC) on military shipbuilding Igor Ponomarev reported that the repair of “Admiral Kuznetsov” may take place in 2018, but then the decision about the timing of the repair work was not accepted. Last year, the Ministry of defence signed a contract for the preparation of the technical project renovation of “Kuznetsov” Nevsky PKB, according to “Vedomosti”.
Previously, the Agency TASS called the preliminary cost of the repair of “Admiral Kuznezov” — according to sources, the Agency, its repair can cost approximately 20 billion rubles.
