Heavy aircraft-carrier cruiser “Admiral Kuznetsov”, which returned from a trip to the shores of Syria, will be upgraded and its life extended for another 20 years, according to “Izvestia”, citing sources in the naval fleet and shipbuilding industry.

According to the publication, the amount, which will cost the modernization of “Admiral Kuznetsov”, can be as high as 65 billion rubles. in the preliminary calculations there will be approximately 30 billion rubles for various development work, but that the total may exceed 65 billion, the newspaper said.

That aircraft-carrying cruiser “Admiral Kuznetsov” will go for the repair after the completion of defects, said on Thursday Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin. Rogozin said that there will be a “medium repair and modernization”, and its timing will determine the Ministry of defence, based on the funding plans, and depending on the complexity of the work.
