The head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov commented on the decision of the highest court of the European Union on the right of companies to prohibit their employees to wear during work garments or other accessories, testifying to their religious and political affiliation.
“A few days ago the European court of justice issued a shameful decision allowing employers to prohibit employees wearing hijabs and other items of clothing denoting a person belonging to any religion. In fact we are talking about a hidden war declared religions”, – wrote Kadyrov in his Instagram account.
The Chechen leader expressed confidence that the attempts of the European court through “restrictions on religious freedom” to pursue the abandonment among youth “to worship”, poterpyat failure. “I am confident that Muslims of Europe will say a decisive “No!” attempts to impose a complete ban on their religious rights! If you never wore the hijab, now to appear in them at work, at University, society,” – wrote Kadyrov.
“I am convinced that the same attitude to the court will demonstrate the representatives of other religions,” he added.
This week, the European court recognized the right of businesses to prohibit their employees to wear during work garments or other accessories, testifying to their religious and political affiliation. In the decision published on the court’s website, indicates that such a requirement is not direct discrimination if it is written in the internal rules of the company.
If the requirement “to dress neutrally” is not spelled out by the internal regulation, the decision to fire an employee because he wears religious clothing or accessories, as well as for what demanded by the customers, the company is not legitimate and may be considered as discrimination.
The demand to give up the public display of religious accessories and signs should apply to all religious, political and philosophical perspectives, without distinction, the document says.
