Politician Alexei Navalny said he intends to hold a rally against corruption in Moscow, despite the fact that the Moscow mayor’s office it refused to reconcile. About it the oppositionist wrote in his blog.
According to Navalny, he will go to the rally on Tverskaya street and he won’t have to break the law, because Moscow authorities have not provided him with alternative sites.
“And the Russian constitutional Court directly tells us if the alternative locations do not offer, you can come on the main site. It is believed that this auto-negotiation”, — the politician wrote, citing a constitutional court ruling.
On the eve of 18 March, Moscow mayor’s office has provided the Bulk of the response to the request to hold a rally on Tverskaya. According to representatives of the city hall, the rally is impossible, as it “would entail a violation of the functioning of vital facilities, transport and social infrastructure,” “create obstacles to the movement of pedestrians and vehicles”, and also “will limit the access of citizens to residential premises” and “violate the rights and interests of citizens not participating in the event.”
This answer is final, said the head of Department of regional security and combating corruption of the capital Vladimir Chernikov.
Commenting on this reply from the municipality, Navalny said that “this is not approval, not denial”. The authorities are obliged to offer an alternative site for the procession, wrote in his blog the politician.
The application for holding the rally, Navalny filed March 14 rally planned on March 26. The rally associated with the recent investigation of the FBC, stating that Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has “huge tracts of land in the elite areas and disposes of yachts and apartments in old mansions, as well as the agro-complexes and wineries in Russia and abroad”. The goal of the March organizers called “a statement in support of a requirement to investigate the facts of corruption of senior officials”.
Navalny’s blog noted that the meeting agreed in six cities of Russia, including Saint Petersburg. In 55 cities of Russia served notice on carrying out anti-corruption rally.
