MOSCOW, may 16. /TASS/. Sanctions of Ukraine against Russian social networking will not have serious financial implications. This opinion was expressed by adviser to the President of the Russian Federation on development of the Internet Herman Klimenko in interview to TV channel RT.
“Sanctions will not affect. Perhaps, in addition to “Yandex”. I don’t know how it is affected. But, from the point of view of advertising revenues, I’m sure, to put it mildly, did not meet the percentage. We in Russian Internet the total mass of Ukrainians to 12.5%. I think that the income is not more than 3%”, – he explained.
Klimenko also expressed doubt that Ukraine will not prevent Russian social network, as users will have to find ways to bypass the lock, such as a VPN (virtual private network) or Tor browser (ensures the anonymity of the Internet).
“It is very interesting to see how Ukraine will contribute to the prohibition of access. There will be a part of users who learn how to use a VPN, Tor. Social networks like “Vkontakte” – this is something that people really appreciate,” added the presidential adviser.
Earlier today, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko enacted the decision of national security Council and defence of Ukraine (NSDC) on the introduction of sanctions against social networks “Vkontakte” and “Classmates”, as well as companies Mail.ru Yandex and their services.
As reported the press service of the President of Ukraine, Internet service providers may not provide access services to service resources Mail.ru and social resources of “Vkontakte” and “Classmates”.
