Matvienko compared the policy of sanctions against the Russian Federation with the movement of crowns

PSKOV, on may 18. /TASS/. The speaker of Council of Federation Valentina Matvienko considers that the policy of sanctions of Western countries against Russia similar to the movement of the trees and does not affect the root basis for the relations between peoples.

“The decisions (on sanctions) that articulate policies at the highest level, affect only the crowns of the trees only when the trees move. In fact, this does not reflect the opinion of the people, opinions of the business people’s interest in partnership, (wish) to friends, to live in the world,” she declared, answering questions of journalists on the sidelines taking place in the Pskov third international forum of the border regions.

According to Matvienko, development of formats of cross-border interregional cooperation confirms that “no sanctions, no restrictions, loud statements in the address of Russia in the framework of the Russophobic war which is being waged, do not change the opinion of people and their mood.” “We will work together to develop cooperation”, – she said.

“Sanctions – a temporary measure, they come and go depending on the political situation and the root fundamentals of our relationship – economic, humanitarian, human – remains, nothing can change that, and has proven examples, facts, the history,” says Matviyenko.

Opened in Pskov the third international forum of frontier regions attended by representatives of Russia, Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Finland, Sweden and Estonia.
