Volodin instructed to prepare a draft appeal to the OSCE PA on the protection of the rights of citizens in Ukraine


MOSCOW, may 24. /TASS/. Speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin instructed to prepare a draft appeal of the lower chamber of the parliamentary Assembly (PA) of the OSCE with a call to protect the rights of citizens in Ukraine.

So he responded to the speech of the Deputy from the faction “United Russia” Yevgeny Revenko, who offered to accept such treatment and to draw the attention of the OSCE on the violation of the basic norms and freedoms in Ukraine and to demand from Kiev to immediately repeal all discriminatory legislation.

“Protecting the rights of citizens is the mandate of the OSCE PA. We participate in the work of the OSCE PA. We have the full right to offer to make this decision. Please prepare a draft and distribute in the hall” – said Volodin.

State Duma Deputy Yevgeny Revenko (United Russia), speaking on behalf of the faction, recalled the recent decision in Kyiv on blocking Russian Internet resources and the adoption of a rule requiring Ukrainian TV channels and radio stations to conduct at least 75% of broadcasting in Ukrainian. According to him, therefore, in Ukraine violated the rights of at least 25 million of its citizens.

“I believe that we should not stay away. Therefore, I propose today to prepare an appeal on behalf of the State Duma the Chairman of the OSCE parliamentary Assembly Mrs. Christine Muttonen in which to pay attention to defiant violation of the basic norms and freedoms in Ukraine to offer OSCE PA to demand from Kiev to immediately repeal all discriminatory legislation,” said Revenko.
