WASHINGTON, September 29. /Offset. TASS Anton Cranks/. Russia’s Ambassador to the U.S. Anatoly Antonov on Thursday wished the new US Ambassador to Russia John Huntsman success in restoring relations between the two countries.
“I congratulate Huntsman on his appointment to high and responsible post. I wish him success in rebuilding Russian-American relations,” – said Antonov, TASS.
Earlier Thursday, the U.S. Senate at the meeting adopted the former Governor of Utah, Huntsman United States Ambassador to Russia.
The huntsman on his page on Twitter wrote, “looking forward to the opportunity to join the team of the American Embassy in Moscow.”
During held on 19 September of the hearings on his candidacy, huntsman said that the United States “no choice” but to cooperate with Russia in addressing some international issues. He also indicated his desire to discuss with the Russian authorities in combating terrorism, compliance with treaties on arms control and nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction and a political settlement of the conflict in Syria and resolving the crisis in Ukraine.
