SYKTYVKAR, 2 Oct. /TASS/. The head of Komi Sergei Gaplikov continues to work as his administration. This was stated on Monday TASS in the press service of the head region, commenting on media reports about the possible resignation of the head of the region.
“The administration head of the Komi Republic is operating normally, as the head of the Republic. This week is planned a number of events with participation of head of the Republic Sergey Gaplikov. In particular, tomorrow, 3 October, the head of the Republic will take part in solemn ceremony of opening of a site of reconstruction “Small Pen – Irael” interregional highway “Syktyvkar – Ukhta – Pechora – Usinsk – Naryan-Mar”, – said the press-Secretary of the Eugene RakIN.

About the possible early resignation of Gaplikov as head of the Komi Republic announced previously, the newspaper “Kommersant”.
The powers of the head of the Republic Sergey Gaplikov, who was elected to this post in 2016, will expire in 2021. Earlier, in October 2015, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin has appointed Gaplikov, acting head of the Republic due to the fact that the former leadership of the region was arrested on charges of creating an organized criminal group and fraud with the state property.
Predecessor Gaplikov Vyacheslav Gaizer was dismissed in connection with loss of trust and is currently in custody.
