Chizhov said that while early to speak about the extension of sectoral sanctions by the EU

MOSCOW, October 13. /TASS/. The extension of EU economic sanctions against Russia is to discuss early, says Russia’s envoy to the EU Vladimir Chizhov.

“We will not renounce”, – he declared on Friday in interview to TV channel “Russia 24”, answering the question about how will the EU be extended for another six months sanctions against Russia.

Thus, according to the permanent representative to the EU, the existence of the preconditions for the abolition of any of the packages is hard to speak because of the “range of opinions” within the block.

“You understand how it works. Every six months, bring together representatives of member countries…and some of the structures presides…a Number of countries have begun to speak in favour of the easing of sanctions, some for their abolition. Then the other group says, you are right that sanctions are not working, but they don’t work because they are not strong enough. The presiding officer says: such a range of opinions, I propose to leave it as is, and six months will return to this issue,” – commented on the situation Chizhov.

The European Union on 14 September once again extended for six months, individual sanctions against citizens and companies of Russia. Currently, the restrictive measures apply to 149 individuals and 38 organizations. On 12 October it became known that the candidate countries Montenegro and Albania, Norway and Ukraine also acceded to the decision of the EU Council.
