SOCHI, October 17. /TASS/. Russia will be the main balancer and provider of security in Eurasia and worldwide. This opinion was expressed on Tuesday by the Dean of the faculty of world economy and international Affairs higher school of Economics, honorary Chairman of the Presidium of the Council on foreign and defense policy (SVOP) Sergei Karaganov during the 14th annual meeting of the International discussion club “Valdai” on “Creative destruction: will there be conflicts the new world order?”.
“We will move towards the establishment of the great Eurasian space of peace and cooperation, in which the main player is China, but Russia will be the main balancer and the main security provider in this space, and all the rest of the world,” he said.
Russia, the expert noted, have already taken on such a role. “We have stopped the expansion of Western alliances, which would lead to war, we stopped destabilizing the series of color revolutions, we keep pretty reckless or frivolous behavior of the United States,” he said.
The collapse of the world order
As pointed out by Karaganov, the formation of the new world order takes place through the transformation of regional subsystems of international relations. So, he said, leaves the world order of the greater Middle East, which was established post-colonial powers and were supported by the Soviet Union and the United States. “Now leave US, the situation for many reasons deeply destabilized, and we are on the threshold of a long period to develop the greater middle East a new regional order,” – said the expert.
In addition, a profound transformation taking place in the relationship of the US and Europe. “The United States does not need more Europe, they want to do them, and not all more expensive and less beneficial to the maintenance of world order, including the relations within the Atlantic world. Europe is increasingly seen as a competitor, she is less able to deal with the outside world and to help US,” said Karaganov, adding that the crisis and the EU itself.
According to the expert, the degradation of the old system will last another 15 years and will be accompanied by an ideological confrontation, which is now “more acute than during the cold war.” “China, Russia, India, with all the complexities like where the world goes. Our Western partners – no, they protect themselves, their way of life, ideology, political system,” he said. Thus, said psaki, the situation in the next 10-15 years will be extremely unstable.
To avoid a big war
The new world order, the expert believes, will be built around two centres: a large Eurasian around the Chinese project “One belt and one road”, which in one way or another will join Russia as an independent centre, and the centre, which will be formed around the United States. At the same time, Karaganov pointed out, for a Europe that will not be able to become an independent center, will be fought. “The European centre could take place only if Russia and Europe is United. This historic moment we already passed,” he said.
According to experts, factors that hinder the establishment of such a world order, can become China’s attempts to become a hegemonic power in Eurasia, as well as conflicts in the region, especially between India and Pakistan and China and India. At the same time, said psaki, “obviously”, in Eurasia will provoke a major war, and peace “has long been a dangerous line”.
In these circumstances, he said, should as soon as possible to begin multilateral negotiations on the strengthening of strategic stability. “Now Russia and the US are trying to start something, but such negotiations can only be effective if it will join the other great powers, primarily China,” – says the expert.
