MFA: evaluation of the Russian report of the OPCW-UN chemical weapons in Syria is completely ignored


MOSCOW, October 27. /TASS/. The opinions of Russian experts completely ignored the report of the Joint OPCW-UN on investigation of possible cases of chemical weapons use in Syria (CMP). This was stated on Friday, the Russian foreign Ministry.

As pointed out in dipvedomstva, Moscow embarked on a thorough study of the document. “But already at the first acquaintance with them is evident, that the opinions and evaluations of Russian experts, handed down Mechanism at his own request, was completely ignored. There are no answers to the questions we posed,” said the Minister. In this case, said on Smolensk square, “included in the report opposite findings anonymous research centers and “independent experts” that are not backed by any convincing argument”.

“More detailed analysis we will present after a thorough examination of the report next week. At the same time, as indicated in statements from the Russian foreign Ministry on 24 and 25 October, to consider and pass the draft to the members of the UN Security Council a diagram of further steps in connection with the expiration on November 16 of the current mandate of CMP”, – have informed in dipvedomstva.

On Thursday, the Joint UN and the Organisation for the prohibition of chemical weapons (OPCW) to investigate possible cases of use of chemical weapons in Syria (SMR) presented the report, which blamed the attack with sarin in the city of Khan shaykhun 4 April 2017 on the Syrian authorities, and after the attack with the use of sulfur mustard in the village of Marat Umm Hosh 16 September 2016 – the militants of the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia).
