MOSCOW, December 13. /TASS/. The Russian side urged Kiev to hold consultations with national minorities to develop solutions that would ensure equal linguistic rights for all citizens of Ukraine. This was stated on Wednesday by the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“Accented that “less favourable attitude towards these languages is difficult in any way to justify, hence there is a question of their discrimination.” It is concluded that the most adequate solution would be the amendment of article 7 of the law and its replacement of the current provisions on “more balanced and clearly defined,” – said Zakharov.
“Supported the above assessment of the Venice Commission. The practical implementation of the act would mean the overt discrimination of millions of Russian-speaking citizens of Ukraine”, – she said – Official representative also noted that “requirements of the Russian side in questions of language rights a larger part of Ukrainian population do not go beyond the fact that highly recommend to Kiev international specialized organizations whose reports contain critical reports on the situation in the human rights sphere in Ukraine.”
