Lavrov: Russia will not negotiate on the terms of removing it from the sanctions

MOSCOW, February 26. /TASS/. Moscow will not negotiate about the terms of cancellation imposed on it sanctions. On Monday said the Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov after talks with Portuguese counterpart Augusto Santos Silva.

“We don’t ask ever, no European Union nor other countries that joined the sanctions, these sanctions removed, do not let any conduct negotiations on the conditions of removing the sanctions,” – said Lavrov.

However, he noted that business circles in Europe are increasingly interested in overcoming the unhealthy situation in relations with Russia.

“So it was during a meeting of German business with President [Vladimir] Putin, then our President also met with representatives of French business. I have recently also had a meeting with members of the Association of European businesses in the Russian Federation. They all have a common position,” – said Lavrov.

“We are ready with our European partners, with governments to cooperate in order to reflect the objective interests of our business community”, – assured the head of the foreign Ministry.

The Minister noted that Russia is ready to resume the operation of all channels of cooperation with European countries without any preconditions.

“I think we demonstrated enough goodwill in relation to our readiness to resume without any preconditions, of all those channels of dialogue, cooperation, mutually beneficial projects, which were frozen after the spring of 2014 (the imposition of sanctions due to the Ukrainian crisis),” said the Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Lavrov also said that Russia and Portugal soon expect to start negotiating a draft Treaty on social security.

“A few days ago came into force a new framework intergovernmental agreement on economic and technical cooperation. Its implementation should help to develop practical bilateral cooperation, he said. We will continue to improve legal base of relations and we expect to proceed shortly to the approval of the draft intergovernmental agreement on social security, which covers, including pensions”.

The Russian foreign Minister also drew attention to the fact that “joint steps to intensify trade and investment cooperation brings results.” “For the second consecutive year, increasing turnover, which last year reached 1.5 billion dollars”, – said Lavrov.
